I told the boys that I wanted them to take some pictures with me as an early Mother's Day gift (that was really just my guilt tactic there... they couldn't turn Mom down for Mother's Day!) and my requirements were that #1) They wear what I want them to wear and #2) Not complain.
Lucky for me they did both and actually had fun doing it! Cooper said afterwards how fun it was... or in his words "It was BOSS! Let's do it again!"
I bought Campbell's Studio Ghibli t-shirt on Etsy last year (the design is a bit subtle to see clearly, but it's the studio's logo) and I bought mine and Cooper's shirts on TeeFury.com a few weeks ago. It's not for sale any longer, but it looks like you can vote to bring it back?
Their glasses (no lenses) I found on Ebay last year, as well as the suspenders. They aren't vintage, just random finds. Campbell's boots are from H&M from last year.
I think they look adorable and they particularly loved the suspenders because Marty McFly wears them (we've been watching Back to the Future with them for the first time... we're ready for #3 now!) We were even headed out the door to go grab dinner afterwards and Cooper was talking up the suspenders and how much he loved them (to my delight and surprise). I told him how cool I thought he looked and gave a speech about how he should always wear what he likes, what makes him happy, not worry about what people think, and that it's a great way to express himself...
Yeh, I guess it had the reverse effect because he was like "yeh, I think I'm gonna take them off."
I think maybe if we lived in a hipster part of the city he could've gotten away with them. Sigh. I'm not sure, I am no stylist... maybe the glasses PLUS the suspenders? Too much? (don't care. i love it.)
Here are a couple of outtakes. This is what happens when you say "Be serious in this one"...
This one was "ok, be crazy now."
These were the best early Mother's Day gift a girl could ask for. : )
P.S. We love Totoro!
