I had to shoot some photos of myself with our holiday backdrop for the feature I mentioned. I put it off til the end. I knew I needed to dye my hair *desperately*. Ever since I started bleaching my hair before I dye my hair as a permanent thing, it's been rough... because I do it myself. There is so much maintenance involved that I can't afford to go to a stylist.
Am I good at it? No. Ethan helps me. I put off the bleaching part the longest I can go. What you see is that. About an inch of roots. Oy! I even bought the dye and bleach to do my hair for these pics, but I was SO not looking forward to doing it, that I actually told myself: "I'll just Photoshop it". Ha! Is that lazy or what?!
After seeing the photos, to my surprise, I didn't mind the roots so much, or the washed out color. It's much more of a vibrant red when I dye it, but it fades SO BADLY leaving my hair with an unintentional ombre effect of yellow and a weird salmon-y color. That paired with the almost black looking roots is not a pretty look. But for some reason I don't mind it so much in these pics, so I said "To hell with Photoshop. Not today."
Luckily I have this cute dress I purchased at Modcloth to destract from my hair. I love this dress like CRAZY. But dang, it's not very comfy. It's a bit itchy around the arms because of the fabric overlay. But I'm thinking I might keep it anyway, it's just too good.
It was about that time to get another "head shot" that I could use for my profile pics. I hadn't taken a proper once since I had very short hair two years ago. I still didn't get very many good headshots, but these will have to do. I had a really hard time with the lights I was using reflecting off my glasses.
So, cheers to being a rebel and not dying your roots and having too many colors in your hair. I was at the boys' school today taking yearbook photos and more than one little girl said she loved my hair. I must seem very My Little Pony to them.
