It's that time of year where everyone's going pumpkin and apple pickin', and we're no exception! We go to Burt's Farm and BJ Reece's Apple Orchard in North Georgia almost every year and with our good friends, the Cochrans, living in Atlanta now (Mark is Ethan's childhood friend and our college friend), we have a family to go with which makes it even more fun and meaningful. The pumpkin selection is I N S A N E at Burt's. We've been going since a couple weeks after Cooper was born and it never ceases to amaze me how huge this place is, with hundreds of pumpkins to choose from - not to mention these gigantic ones!
After getting the requisite kids-with-pumpkins portraits out of the way at the beginning, we then went on the hayride (with a beautiful view) and then picked out our pumpkins. These two below were particularly cute holdings hands all day. I love those vintage calico overalls I bought from my friend Lish for little Lenore. I've missed my little muse! Now that her Mom is working again, she's in school, so I don't get to babysit much anymore and take her glamour shots. ;)
I love that all the kids immediately put a piece of straw between their lips like a proper farmer.
Please excuse my hot-mess-o-hair and that it's like, five different colors. Mama needs a dye job asap. We'll just say I'm being trendy and that my hair is ombre (has that trend not died yet?) In better news, my hair is actually growing out and is pretty much one length... finally!
After we successfully secured the best pumpkins of the patch, we headed over to the nearby apple orchard. While waiting for the Cochrans to meet us there, I got these photos of the boys running towards me. Pure kiddo-bliss captured. Makes me grin from ear to ear.
Lenore didn't let go of this apple until she had finished every last bite. She's a champion apple-eater! Notice her wardrobe change. Just like a proper girly girl!
The boys' most favorite part every year is the APPLE CANON. Yes. They shoot apples waaaaaaaay across the orchard with these super powerful canons. It's pretty dang awesome. Here they are waiting their turn.
On our stroll through the orchard, we saw a little distance away, a patch of sunflowers! Well, we couldn't pass up that photo opp, so we walked over and took a look.
It was the best time. Until next year!
P.S. In case anyone asks, most of my boys' wardrobe is from H&M, including the shoes. Cooper's shirt is a vintage thrift find and Campbell's red and white jacket is from Polarn O. Pyret. And the digital 70s inspired patterns I used above are from my digital and printable kit, Calico Dream.
