I found some Ed Emberley books on my thrifting trip on Friday. I bought some several years ago, but Cooper was too young to really understand how to follow them and he would just get frustrated. As a girl that spent hours upon hours of my childhood drawing, I was so bummed that he wasn't into it! I actually had never heard of these amazing books as a child, but Ethan still has the original books he used as a child. Isn't that great?
Well, I showed the boys the books and they immediately got to drawing! But you know who has really taken to them? Campbell! I really wasn't sure if he would be able to follow them being 4 years old, but he's become a regular little ar-teest! : ) I'm thrilled! A boy after my own heart.
While he was hanging out in my studio drawing today, I took some photos. My studio has been a work-in-progress for a long time now. I need to finish it up it up so I can take some proper photos of it. It's half-Danielle-playground, half-dumping-ground so it's kind of a hot mess right now. But here are some close-ups so you can be deprived of the messy parts.
How adorable are these Kokeshi pens! My friend Pilgrim pinned them several weeks ago and I couldn't hunt down the shop fast enough. I could stare at them all day. I haven't even used them yet!
See the Big Eyed Doll up there with the tear coming down her face? Isn't she so Margaret Keane? She was no doubt designed after the look. She's a Love Me Linda Doll produced in 1965. Thanks to Ebay saved searches, I found this one in mint condition for a great price. Not all of them have a tear and I wasn't too keen (heehee) on having one with a tear, but she was too good to pass up. I thought maybe her hair had been chopped but it looks like that is how the bangs were cut on some of them. I might get her hair re-rooted one day so she can have some proper bangs. Anyone have one of these dolls?
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend. We had quite the eventful one, and if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you might know why. ; ) But that's a whole other post coming soon.

Is that a photo cube radio!? Your studio is lovely. My desk is a holy mess and even the closeups would be shameful. It has become my dumping ground. Oh and go Campbell! :)

Your studio looks like a world of amazing. And is that a photo cube/radio/pen holder? Wow!! I'm glad that you've got yourself a little artist in the family. I won't spoil your eventful weekend post but will speak in code and say that my husband used to have lots of those before we married and he still talks fondly of how great they were to have around.
