Do you ever feel so overcome with inspiration with some artists that you just want to run immediately to your studio and create? That is how I feel when I see Kim Smith's work. I'm so proud to have her as a sponsor this month. I've been a long-time admirer of Kim from her blog. I love how she approaches everything in her world with an artistic eye, whether it be her photography, art, home, time with friends and family, school. Her experimentation with photography produces such dreamy affects whether it be digital, lomography or other film. Be sure to dive into her Flickr and be immersed in her creative world. (and don't forget to follow her on Twitter, too.)
She is a student studying illustration at Camberwell University in London and I have to say that following her journey has been so inspiring for me. Her photos transport me to my time in art school and remind me what an insanely inspiring time that was. My college experience was truly one of the greatest of my life. Seeing Kim's experiences documented on her blog makes me yearn for those days when so many things were new and I was only beginning to figure out what my creative style was. Everything was such an adventure, what a gift it is to see Kim's experience. The nostalgia just washes over me in such a wonderful way!
How lucky we are that Kim has a shop where she shares her art with us! I have been truly inspired by her paper goods. The painterly textures and hand-drawn illustrations in her paper designs set her apart from the mainstream of patterned craft papers.
I especially love her sticker sets and postcard designs. Her Robin Hood postcard prints are especially lovely! They are prints of her original Collagraph prints. Collagraph is an Intaglio process apparently. I LOVED my Intaglio printmaking classes in college.
She will also be debuting two products by her good friends in her shop in October. Here is a sneak peek of those. : )
Kim is generously offering one lucky winner a full set of her You're Knicked Paper Collection! Yay! This one's my favorite and the colors are perfect for the coming Fall Season.
