I've been scrapbooking for several years, first paper and then digi. The biggest problem I found was that the designs just didn't suit what I wanted/needed. Today, I'm thrilled with how much "cooler" scrapbooking has become and can't wait to see it continue to be awesome. jeswel211@gmail.com

I never truly considered myself creative until I found digital scrapbooking. Initially I was all about practicing techniques and styles, but eventually I wanted to just tell my stories. Because of scrapping I finally got a camera (albeit a not-so-nice one). I found so many wonderful scrapping friends online and offline. I discovered an amazing passion I have for the craft and the art I make :) It's so many levels of awesome that's hard to fully describe :)

This was a really great blog post. I think growing up I disliked scrapbooking because it was something my mom and sister loved, so it was automatically uncool to me. Now that I've grown up a bit I've definitely grown an appreciation for it and am grateful now that my mom and sister captured all of those memories for me in a really neat way. My favorite scrapper is one you listed, Kara!

Um...I remember in 2005 seeing your work on Two Peas for the first time (first page shared above is what I remember seeing!) and telling Elsie about you and I can't remember if she knew you already at that point or not. Anyways, I think I quite for some of the same reasons and can't do digital to save my life but kind of miss it when I see the work of all these talented ladies. It really is getting so much more interesting and there are some really well designed pages out there!

Thanks for sharing!

Nadine

thanks for the chance! :D

Wow, I have been really struggling with creative inspiration and feeling just sort of stale in general, but seeing some new artists has given me the itch to create!! Thanks!!

Nadine

you've featured designers whom I love as well so I had to rack my brain for more.

I love the simplicity of her layouts she creates:

jen has this certain style that makes her work easily recognized:

another scrapper whose style makes her unique:

Hi! I'm new to your blog, and love it!! My email is pamheggie@gmail.com.

And now for my second comment! Lol! I love watching the Studio Calico blog for when they post the favourites from their gallery...so not really one scrapbooker in particular, but all the scrappers who scrap with their stuff and then get the most votes in the Studio Calico gallery...there's always good ones there! :)

Thanks fort the sweet mention, darlin! I do miss seeing your lovely creations in the scrapbooking realm, but I'm very glad you are still around doing other crafty things. :)

awesome post! I started scrapbooking in high school....I was a historian for several groups and I always spent entirely too much time making the scrapbook way uber cooler than it needed to be. I still love it.

Oh I love it Danielle. See this is what happens when I take break from the blog and come across this fabulous post:) So, true. Scrapbooking is cool! Though like you it has taking at back seat in my creativity. But, I will be forever grateful for this hobby that resurrected my very sleepy creativity:)

Danielle

love all those scrapbookers! your stuff is pretty rad, too, Danielle!

Autumn leaves is my favorite! I am a simple scraper and really miss the simple scrapbooks magazines. When the stopped printing them, they also disappeared from my library. Why would they do that? erg.

michelle lanning

just had to pop in here to comment - some of the pages you have on here (of yours - are still in my inspo book - another fav or mine that you did was the one with a pic of you and your sis - something about neight and day - so colorful and pretty:)

tara

what great books. i would love them! what an awesome giveaway

Katie

Thanks for sharing your story Danielle! I have to say I still recognise some of those layouts from older CK magazines! People always say you have to scrap simple and clean for your work to stay up-to-date but your layouts look totally modern even for several years old! I really love your arty/kitschy style!

I also have to say I've been looking for those books forever - they are so hard to come by now...wishing I bought them when they first came out!

Katie

PS. This girl has an awesome scrapping style!

Wow - even without the incentive of a giveaway I was going to comment about how much I've enjoyed reading about your journey of scrapbooking.
I'm a paper scrapper myself, and am delving into hybrid (hence what landed me over here on your blog in the first place - Kitschy Digitals is the only digital scrapbooking stuff I've ever bought). But the 3 traditional scrappers you mentioned are definitely in my top 5 or 6 favourite too.
