So, after much procrastination and denial, I am working on my taxes today. I'm not a numbers girl (i can't think of anything more boring) but I'm doing it. Phew. Feels good. And as I mentioned on my Twitter today, I have "Tax Man" by the Beatles running through my head. ;-)
I've been doing some reorganization of my wee studio area. We're making some room for a sewing nook (*finally* taking a beginning quilting class locally, yay!) and I'm also trying to organize my supplies, like my fastly growing yarn stash above.
I found some really cool (and big) wire baskets this weekend at an antique mall that will be holding my yarn. I think my balls of yarn look quite pretty all together in this particular basket above. As you can see, some of them I actually started from scratch and rolled them into more eye-pleasing balls (instead of how they come from the store). I've been doing it when sitting with the boys every night when they go to sleep (yes, i do this every night. Will be glad when they just go to sleep on their own. Gosh, been doing this for probably 6 years now!)
As you can see, i still have quite a few yarn balls to wind. Luckily I found that you can do this in the dark! (which of course comes in handy when waiting on those little men to start snoring!)
I also found some wooden hangers that I hope to crochet soon. I've been trying to find a pretty pattern for crocheted hangers for ages, but could never find anything I liked. Then I saw that Tif on Dottie Angel had made some and I not-so-subtley hinted to her on Twitter to "please make a pattern!" And so she obliged. So very happy to get started on my crocheted hangers.
I've been listening to Holly's interview with ProBlogger today and it's been SO interesting and it got me thinking about where I want take this blog and what more I can do for YOU guys, the readers! If you have the time, I'd love to hear some ideas (post in the comments section) about what more you'd like to see here at Thompson Family-Life. I would really, really love to hear. :-)
Also, I just wanted to say "hi!" to anyone coming from Apartment Therapy and the CRAFT magazine blog. They both did posts on my Eames inspired tutorial which is really cool! Thanks for stopping by (!) and I hope you'll hang out for a while! Be sure to follow me on Twitter for blog updates, special sales just for Twitter-folk and more of my silly banter. You can also follow me on Flickr.
Back to work I go...

hahaha! i blogged about my taxes today too. :)
good luck. xo!

I also listened to Holly's Interview this morning. I am really just starting out and sometimes it just seems like it is hit or miss with blogs. Some (like Holly's) seem to grow on their own. Others (as I suspect my blog will be) will require advertising and patience and a bit of strategy.
Your blog is so lovely. Everything from the color palette to font use is spot on. I am always intrigued by the person behind the blog, perhaps more personal insights?
Alright, sorry for the long comment. I have a case of the blabs....

holy cow I can't believe you sit with your kids every night and wait for them to fall asleep! It would utterly wear me out... though doing something slow-pace yet productive like yarn winding is a nice thing after a day of busy-ness. I bet they would go to sleep on their own if you picked your battle time wisely (like when nobody has to go to work the next day, lol) and stuck with it! Took a maximum of 3 nights with each of my 3 kids to get through it and get my evenings back. Just an idea :)
Anyway, love the blog.. your pics are amazing, and your DIY is inspiring. Thanks!
