Yay! I'm so excited.. i love giveaways. And i haven't done one in a while!
Before I spill the giveaway (actually giveawayS plural!), I wanted to share with you a couple photos I took today...
I've been staining wood panels today to photograph (they are 4 separate woodgrain textures/colors) and use in my Woodgrain Frame digital kit I mentioned.. I learned that...
1) I am no wood-staining-master,
2) always remember to stain WITH THE GRAIN not against the grain. Made that mistake once...
3) have some mineral spirits on hand because you can't wash out an oil-based solution with water! (der!) I learned this the hard way. Made me remember all of those years in college when I pretty much used Mineral Spirits as HAND SOAP in my oil and print-making classes. Oooh, not good on the hands, not at all.
4) wear gloves so you don't have to use Mineral Spirits as soap! ;-)
Thank goodness for Photoshop because I can fix any mistakes I made. ;-)
And here's a pic of the big granny square I made this weekend with my friend Monica that came to visit me from Alabama. :-) I love her because she always has a project going on and she inspires me to get off my butt and start those projects I always WANT to start but never make time for (because I'm usually working on "work" which is really fun too. ;-)
I forgot how EASY these are.. and that is coming from someone that was terrified to learn crochet for years. Once you learn, it's super easy. And you don't even have to follow the pattern after a few rows because you're doing the same thing over and over, round and round.
I made the mistake of picking one of the HARDEST square designs (photo above) last year when i first started crocheting and i used some very fine (expensive) yarn that was difficult to work with.. it came out beautiful but was it ever difficult. I remember feeling like i was going to have aneurysm it stressed me out so much. So take it from me, pick the easy designs! ;-) It's like instant gratification!
And here's a pic of my square among some super cute dolly clothes I found at an antique market the week our boys were gone. This woman's booth was ALL antique doll clothes, doll house miniatures, etc.. I was in heaven. These are mostly from the 40's and 50's. She said she usually stops at the 40's and i was thinking in my head "but NO! the best ones are from the 60's and 70's!)... haha.. but these are really sweet and the fabric designs are dreamy! I have a project in mind for these....
