Just some pics of Margaret and Pauline in their new headbands that I made for them last week. These were seriously fun to make.. I'll be selling these in my Tiny Bazaar shop sometime soon. I'm really excited because I'm applying for a vendor table at Blythe-Con taking place here in Atlanta in October, to sell these little pretties. I'm excited! I've never been a vendor before. It's not certain that I'll be accepted... I'm just doing it for fun, so we'll see what comes of it! :-) Guess I should get my application in the mail first, huh? ;-)
Also, I spoke with the printer today about the Vinyl Picture Frame Wall decals! I'm so excited about this printer and I think we'll be able to get these things rolling and finished by end of May. :-) Yay!
Ok, back to work... gotta get alot accomplished today.
I found the material to use for the base of these headbands.. it's hard to find Blythe-sized metal headbands out there. ;-) So I made some myself. I'm really happy with this material.. they are really strong and firm and aren't flimsy at all. And the glue I used is super-strong (no hot-glue!) so nothing (hopefully) should pop off. I can't tell you how many things I've bought that are handmade where people used hot-glue and the bits just popped off. :( I used e-6000 glue, and that stuff is strong, not to mention VERY toxic smelling. I don't recommend using the stuff indoors if you aren't in a ventilated area (like i did last week. NOT, NOT a good idea.)
And look! my new doll!
hee-hee.. just kidding. That's Pauline (the blue-haired girl) with a super-cool mod wig. Love it.
It's sad when your dolls dress better than you do. (No wait. Is it sad that I play with dolls in the first place? Probably.)
In a rush, but I just wanted to remind everyone that my 20% off sale for Kitschy Digitals and Kitschy Digitals {Goods} ends tomorrow! Thank you to everyone that has taken advantage of the sale... i hope you enjoy everything! :-) Remember, the 20% off is already taken off in the Kitschy Digitals shop.. but in the {Goods} shop, you'll need to input this coupon code: 20percentoffKDG
Here are some shots I took of my neice this weekend.. isn't she CUTE?! It is so nice (FINALLY) having a girl in the family... on both sides of my family it's ALL.BOYS. :-) Not that i don't love my boys, but they don't look as good in pink as girls do. ;-) And you'll see the *gorgeous* dress that Callymade for me... she's amazing. You seriously need to check out her colorful blog. And I love hearing her talk about motherhood. :-)
We took these in the gardens at the Carter Center. I've lived here for 13 years and I never knew what beautiful place was waiting here for beautiful picture-taking. :-) And did you know that Jimmy Carter lives next door to me? Seriously. Ok, not THE Jimmy Carter... *A* Jimmy Carter. ;-) And he told us that the *real* Jimmy Carter sends him a Christmas Card every year. :-)
Here she is with that cutie-cute soft teaset from Pottery Barn Kids (and look! it's on super-duper sale now!). I just love that set. Will be using that as a prop in the future if I can ever round up some little girls around here. ;-)
I think this one below is my favorite from the whole weekend. She looks so sweet. And her complexion is so pretty, don't you think? :-)
Thought it looked pretty in black and white too...
And THE dress... :-)
Don't love that she looks like she's missing a hand in the above pic, but liked the close-up. ;-) She proved to be much more challenging to photograph than 6 months ago! She's on the move! :-)
And one with her cousins.. seriously sweet, right? :-) Cooper looks like the doting cousin... Cam lasted about 2 seconds sitting and then ran away. Both boys were super sweaty post soccer game and it was *HOT* this weekend! felt like a mid-July summer day. We went to our FAVORITE Atlanta art festival, The Inman Park Festival, this weekend and got to see the ALWAYS fun parade celebrating the festival. We've missed it the past few years.. it was nice to see it again. I didn't get any pics this year, but here are tons on Flickr by other people.. it's a pretty crazy event! :-) LOVE.IT.
And here are some I took yesterday in Downtown Decatur...
She was SERIOUSLY on the move on this day.. i didn't get a ton of great shots, but i did get a few *keepers*. :-)
And you know you live in the South when you see a girl in her beautifully smocked dress, out and about on a Sunday afternoon. ;-) My Mother-in-law made this...
Just some random things that are inspiring me and making me smile today. :-)
1. Do you ever have those days where you just feel like an open-wound? in a good way? :-) I can owe this feeling today to watchingInto the Wild last night with Ethan. (yeh, i know, it came out in 2007. We're late bloomers. ;-) I could probably write a novel about it today, but I don't have time, and I'll spare you my rambles anyway. ;-)
But this movie totally gutted me. I sobbed afterwards. It makes you think ALOT. It inspires. But it breaks your heart. Especially if you're a mother. And especially since this is based on a true story. When I think about it now, tears spill over. It's just a really stunning movie in so many, many ways.
Ethan read the book about 10 years ago and I remember him talking about it. The movie totally exceeded my expectations. And they were fairly high. I mean, Sean Penn: director and screenplay-writer? MUST be good.Emile Hirsch? My new favorite actor. Jenna Malone? Always a fan. (I always remember Emile and Jenna in The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys. Loved that movie.) William Hurt? You can always count on him to be totally dispicable. Lol.Marcia Gaye Harden. Always stellar. And yes, Kristin Stewart didn't even suck in it (no pun intended. Since she DID suck in Twilight.) Although I do REALLY want to see Adventureland and she's in it. It's supposed to be really good.
Anyway, go see Into the Wild. I came away from it really appreciating my family, REALLY thinking about my responsibilities as a parent and how I hope my boys will someday perceive me, how I can't wait to see what sort of amazing men my boys turn into, and what sort of amazing things they'll do one day. I hope they see the world. I just hope they stay safe doing it. :) And always call home.
2. And speaking of those boys. Another thing making me smile today. Love them times infinity. Especially Cooper's super-cheesy pose. Gotta love that kid.
3. I had to do alot of computer work today so I really needed some good music to listen to. I really don't buy music that often (I think i've mentioned that before).. i'm one of those girls that listens to the same music over and over. Just my favorites.
I've been wanting to listen to Camera Obscura for a very long time now. Especially since I saw this album cover. Something about I totally loved.
But when i went to Itunes today, I checked out their 2 newest albums, but when looking thru their older ones, this one (above) totally clicked with me. I liked that it didn't feel as polished as the newer ones (although I'm sure I'll be buying those too!) I'm totally in love with this album: Underachiever's Please Try Harder. It was the perfect choice.
4. I'm now listening to one of my all-time favorite songs by Death Cab for Cutie: A Movie-Script Ending. The video that goes with this song always touches my heart and makes me think of young love. Cheesy I know. Makes me think of college. :-) And did you know that the lead singer is engaged to Zooey Deschanel? omg. The perfect couple ever.
Anyway, here's the video for Movie-Script Ending.
5. These INCREDIBLE letter-press wedding invitations I found via Mikaela's very inspiring blog. :-) I have so many ideas for designs for letterpress. It's too bad they are expensive to make. :( But they sure are stunning!
Letterpress company that made these: Beast Pieces.
6.Totally nerding out today over this. :-) I'm such a BIG fan of Jennifer Perkins. When I got a comment from her on my Kitschy Digitals blog the other day I about freaked. So I sent her an email to say thanks, etc, etc.. and I got an email today from her telling me she mentioned me in an interview! (well, she mentioned one of my scrapbooking cut-out sheets from my Kitschy Digials {Goods} store that is. Lol!)
Anyway, made me happy today, for sure. So nice of her. You can see her incredibly fun creations here: Naughty Secretary Club. She is just one of many reasons I want to go to Austin! Not to mention this girl too. Although it's not like i'm going to meet them. I guess i just want to walk around in a city that produces such amazing chics as these. ;-) (i know, i'm a goober.)
Hi! Thank you SO MUCH for the feedback on the vinyl wall decals!! I'm really excited about those. Your feedback is so helpful! Stay tuned for more details on those.
At Two Peas (where my digital shop is) digital designers are "spotlighted" on the Shopping Home page and we have the option of doing a sale. Well, since it was my turn for a Digi-Spotlight, I thought I'd take advantage of having a sale! :-)
And since I was doing it in the digital kits shop, I thought I'd extend it to my {Goods} shop as well. :-) This sale ends next Tuesday (it lasts through Monday).
**PLEASE NOTE: The 20% off has already been taken off the items in my Kitschy Digitals digital kits shop. (as you can see by the pricing) But for my KD {Goods} shop, you'll need a coupon code.
That code is: 20percentoffKDG
*Also, I keep forgetting to mention that my printed goods in the {Goods} shop are available for wholesale orders. If you have a kit club and are interested, email me! :-)*
Ok, off to bed I go. Was up all night with a sick boy. I have a small window to get a few hours of sleep.
Thank-you to those who sent me emails and left comments about the picture frame decals! Last night I had some time to play around with some photoshopped mock-ups of my frames on some interior shots that I've taken, to get an idea of how the "decals" would look in actual rooms.
This is a shot of my bedroom from about 2 years ago. I think I'm already tired of the decor (we're so fickle aren't we?), but i still love the color palette. The decals would probably be a bit smaller than these.. I was just playing around with these, just to get an idea. I love the idea of an entire wall filled with these!
I love the way the realistic frames look.. I know with the ones that I made for Cam's room last year, people thought I had painted them on the walls!
Here's a shot I took like 3 years ago... please pretend that is an orange wall behind the girls, and not backdrop paper. ;-) And that this is indoors and not set up outside like it really was! I adore these colors! I think the combination of the realistic looking frames with the opaque/flat silhouette frames looks really nice. Gives it some variation.
A shot of my nephew Lucas in my parents' home with my "decals"... I think you could even add text inside some of these... words or phrases. That would be so pretty.
And I love this idea of adding the decals to ANY surface, not just walls. You could apply these to boring kitchen cabinets, doors, furniture, lots of places! (another old shot I took 3 years ago!)
You could hang these on a wall and let your kids hang their artwork in the frame openings with bulldog clips. I did that will the frame decals in my son's room (but I hung artwork prints). I forgot to post the "finished room" picture yesterday so you can see the decals with the prints hanging inside some of them. You can change out the artwork very easily this way!
Please continue to email me (thousandclowns (AT) yahoo.com) if you have any feedback on these (which ones you like, what colors you like...) or leave me a comment here. I hope to have these available in a month or so.
