I love seeing what people got for Christmas, especially crafters, although it does feel a little silly posting about it. Like I feel like I'm 7 again calling all my friends up on Christmas day, "What did YOU get? I got this, and this, and this.... and this..." Something about when you get older, it just feels silly.
*BUT* that said, I had such a killer Christmas BECAUSE.... yes.... I finally got my first Blythe doll! (now I really feel seven. I had a doll-themed Christmas. Oh my.)
So now I'll *ACT* seven and say...
OMG. OMG. I'm so excited about my new doll! EEK!! ;-) She's got blue hair, and big blue eyes, and a totally retro wardrobe... OMG... ;-)
I actually haven't taken her out of the box yet because I feel so overwhelmed at the excitement I feel (and i don't want to "mess her up"). I know, I'm so lame. I've got all of these ideas brewing of how I want to photograph her. I've been surfing the net WAY too much looking for clothes for her and furniture and whatever other frivelous thing you can get for a doll. ;-)
And the COOl thing is that I've been able to ask for all of these things for Christmas and not feel quilty about spending hard-earned money on such frivelous things. Lol! My mom was so so SO kind to buy me this doll (thank you, thank you, thank you Mom!) for my birthday-slash-Christmas gift. That is the nice thing about having a birthday after Christmas. I like it actually because you can lump together more expensive things on your wish list for both occasions.
So anyway, I received lots of clothes for her from Ethan and other family members (including dresses and accessories.. a girl needs her stockings and fashion glasses!) And while it all feels so silly, I'm really excited about my new little journey with Blythe. I curse you Flickr for introducing me to her, but I also *heart* you Flickr for introducing me to her. :-)
I'm already sending Ethan links to Blythe clothing for birthday gift ideas. He looked at me and said "So is this going to be a Blythe Birthday?" I said, "Oh yes."
Ethan on the other hand, made out pretty well himself this Christmas! He's always the one that thinks of really sweet and thoughtful gifts and I always suck at that for him. He's very hard to buy for. But there are some things he REALLY loves and can't live without, and that's his DSLite (among his Ipod which he always hooked up to listening to some podcast or another.)
I got him some bling for his DS... this *RAD* DS case from Etsy seller AutumnSilverMoon that's made entirely out of duct tape. Yes, that never gets old. And dude, it's pac-man themed. That never gets old either.
(photos via Autumn Silver Moon)
I also got him a Gelaskin for his DS (which I didn't know these existed for DS) until one of my favorite artist's blog post popped up in my Reader and I saw that she, Amy Sol, had some of her artwork turned into some of these Gelaskins! I knew that Ethan liked this artist as well, so I had to get it for him!
This is what the outside looks like, but i couldn't find a DS image, so here's a laptop image... same concept.
And if you're a Wire fan, only you will be able to appreciate this next gift I got Ethan... an OMAR t-shirt. Yes, Omar. Who doesn't love Omar?
I wasn't sure how I felt about the guns, but Omar t-shirts were few and far between which surprised me... but then Ethan said "But it's Omar." You can't picture Omar without one of his gigantic guns. On the back it says "If You Come for the King, You Best Not Miss."
And on that note, let's follow up the gun talk with some sweet photos of my nephew. ;-)
I finally got around to finishing up some photos for my sister.
And a 20"x10" storyboard. The smiling photo on the far right was such a happy capture. It was a totally fleeting moment and the only time he smiled while he was sleeping during this shoot. I was totally lucky that I was fast enough to catch it.
The texture I used on these pics is from "Textures by Ash" and I have Pack #1. (although i think he's consolidated all of his textures into one pack b/c the pack i bought wasn't that expensive.. i think they were maybe divided up into several packs at one time?)
And lastly I wanted to give a heads-up that I've posted more artwork using my Kitschy Digitals kits over at the Kitschy Digitals blog if you want to check it out! Here's a sneak peek!
By Steph Devlin.
Close up on a page by Valorie Wibbens.
Project by Amy Parker.
Click here for details on the kits these artists used! :-)

OMG! Miss Sally Rice! I looooooove her! I just ordered my first Blythe too (Frosty Frock)!
Ok, I need to get ahold of myself with the exclamation points! I'm very jealous of your SR & can't wait to see what you do with her! And that DS cover is adorable.

love the photos but I think I must have that omar shirt for my hubby. Love it! where in the heck did it come from?

***LOVING*** the Omar shirt. I'm totally an Omar girl. Hmmmmm. The holidays including my birthday are over . . . doesn't seem like an appropriate Mother's Day gift. Maybe I'll buy one for myself :)\
I don't know if you're an Arrested Development fan but my husband and I are. My sister got my husband a Bluth's Banana Stand T-shirt that reads "Mister Manager" on the back. Anyhoo, Omar reminded me of that.
Happy New Year. The pics of your nephew are TDF - you amaze me.

You and your husband are obviously way cooler than my stiff suburbian self. I've never heard of Blythe dolls or Omar. Eeeck! I need to get out more!! The photographs of Lucas are absolutely darling and that smile is a wonderful catch. He is so cute. It seems everyone in your family is cute. Cute, cute, cute. Happy Birthday and Happy Christmas, I knew you had to be a capricorn and that's why I like you so much. No, I'm not a cyber stalker. OK that sounds funny even typing it. Nevermind. I swear I'm normal. Kind of.

LOVE ALL YOU DO! I want to live in your blog! Seriously.
Did you make the sweet hats baby Lucas is wearing? Or did you purchase them? SO CUTE!
What did your little fellas get? :)

Danielle, I love your photography. I have followed your blog for so long and I don't think I ever commented, not sure... but those photos are indescribable. I WANT ANOTHER BABY just so you could photograph him (would be a boy ... I have three already and no, I am not having a fourth ... seriously, heehee). But oh, I can just feel that oh-so-soft skin and his smell! Ahhh.... okay I am going to go cuddle my littlest one (6 months). Thank you for sharing those photos.

Beautiful images of your nephew (my little girl would have been a Lucas had she been a boy!) and that Omar t-shirt is too cool! Makes me wanna shout "Omar comin', Omar comin'!" and hide, LOL!

Oh, I love the baby pictures! Those are so precious :]

I dig the powder blue Blythe! It beats the hell out of getting a giant puffy snowman sweatshirt :)
The photos of baby Lucas are really striking. The composition and the colors together make them very special photos. I particularly like the series you did on his birth announcement.

Is there any possible way I can find the pattern for the cocoon the baby is wearing?! I would love to make one and would gladly pay for the pattern! The baby and the pictures are INCREDIBLE! Please email me and let me know--diann@diannhunt.com. Thanks so much!

I already knew that I loved your blog - and then, you also caught the Blythe obsession! I just caught it and have ordered myself the Squiggly Squirrel petite blythe for my birthday present to self, and I am more excited than should be allowed at my age over a 4 1/2" doll!!!! I also love the petite sally rice doll. I'll probably bump into you in the blythe flickr groups!! Happy birthday / new year!

Such gorgeous baby photos! You never cease to amaze me! And congrats on your new doll :-) I know how you feel - I recently received 2 Pullip dolls, which made me squeal like a little girl. Must admit I've spent a few hours surfing around the net for clothes and accessories! Your Blythe is awesome and so you - reminds me of your Kitschy Digitals characters :-)
