Rainy morning progress...

First, thank you so much for the felt tree love! wow! and thank you to all of those that linked to the tutorial.. i will return the link love later!! :-)

It's always inevitable around the holidays, that we scramble to finish up home projects that we've put off the whole year long, since we usually have visitors around the holidays. It's always chaotic (isn't that the nature of December?) but we always kick into major productive mode, and it always feels good!

Sometimes though, like this morning, i was looking at my mile long to-do list and felt overwhelmed at where to begin. Sometimes I deal with that by proscrastinating. And I could tell I was headed in that direction, but I told myself to stop, and get to it. Just dive in.

And that's what I did! I have to go into work late today, so I thought i'd try and get something done before I go in. As I mentioned, we've been in the process of redecorating and repainting our front "formal" living room (i guess you would call it). Although we aren't "formal" folks, and the room is certainly not formal.... but anyway... lol!

It's raining today (ALOT) and we're supposed to get like 2 inches of rain over the next few days (which is rare around here.. we need it!), so the light is horrible and it's so dark in the house. But i thought i'd post some pics of my progress in this room. (or rather, OUR progress, as Ethan has done alot of work on the room as well... painting, etc.)

I've been meaning to hang pictures/decor over our new ORANGE IKEA couch... and that's what I tackled this morning. I've been collecting old picture frames from consignment/thrift stores, etc... and just started filling them with patterned paper, vintage wallpaper and a print I've had for the longest time, but never got around to framing it! It's of 2 vintage cameras. I will post links to sources laters, as I have to get ready for work!

Here's my progress... I would say the little vignette of elements over the couch is pretty much finished, minus some repairs we need to do on that big mirror, and the addition of a clock I ordered from Etsy that is made using a vintage plastic doily! (love!!) (will post links later!)

I photoshopped it onto the wall in the very last photo b/c i'm such a nerd. ;-)

Here are the pics... more pics coming of the rest of the room, which has lots of Christmas decor in it! Excuse the bad pics.. better ones to come!

P.S. some people asked for a link to the bobby pin tutorial that I mentioned 2 posts ago by Kayte Terry that i neglected to add! go back into the comments for that post and i added the link.

Pics: I really wanted this to be a funky, eclectic room. That it is, i do believe. Thankfully I have a husband that for the most part is very supportive of my crazy style! I am VERY lucky!

The wall color is more of a baby-blue, so it's a bit brighter and bluer than in the pics... but still pretty neutral of a blue (for me at least!) I really wanted the furniture and accessories to stand out the most and be the most colorful. I had planned on painting the dark brown frame, but i'm sort of liking the mis-matchedness of it with the gold frames... i might paint it later... dunno...for now, i sort of like the contrast of it... and i just wanted to get it on the wall. lol!

Here I photoshopped in the plastic doily clock.. that is where i had planned on putting it, so i left a spot for it, but who knows, it might end up somewhere else in the room...

I so love your decorating. I would love to live in your home! :)

I have to say, i only found your blog recently and I am so in love with it I had to do a whole blog-post about your blog. I hope you don't mind. I love your taste!

Super colors that wonderful and bright. I simply love your wall with the frames and mirror. I love that you are so daring with your style within your home and you are one lucky woman to have a husband that supports you as well. Your tastes for home decoration is WILDLY fun and I am thinking I live vicariously through your color palette.

I felt in love with these frames for the very first momento I saw them on your blog (before becoming digikits), and now i NEED them, specially the one with the mirror... if you find another one and don't want it, let me know - LOL. You are now on my fave blogs.

this is amazing! it looks like it is straight out of a magazine... those frames compliment each other so well.
