I'm so excited about this kit! This was the most time-consuming kit I've done so far, but I'm so pleased with how it turned out. And it wasn't so bad spending lots of time with gnomes and toadstools. ;-) This kit is available here!
I thought I'd post the description from the shop:
Who doesn't love gnomes, toadstools and books? This printable kit can be used to create totally unique, personalized and (most importantly) CUTE gift sets for the people you love. The holidays are coming up fast! This would be a great gift for your children (boys or girls) or even the adults in your life that love a Woodland theme (and love to read)!
If you're wanting to give something that is unique, but you don't have time to create something that's 100% handmade, this kit gives you the best of both worlds: something unique that you can't buy at the mall, it's personalized (just add your giftee's name), and will be for the most part, handmade by you! You just print out all of the elements and put the gift set together. A totally memorable gift. :-) These would also make fantastic party-favors, for any occasion, or get it for yourself! :-)
And the best thing about digital downloads is that you can print these as many times as you want... getting lots of gifts out of one kit. You can personalize ALL of these designs by adding your name to the blank banner design element.
Kit Includes:
4 Bookplate Designs
4 Bookmark Designs
1 Reading-Log Design (kids can log the date, book title, author name and minutes)
3 Iron-on Designs (for canvas totes, t-shirts, onesies, you name it... can also be used as a coloring sheet for kids)
3 *BONUS* Gift Bag Topper Designs (for the bookplates, bookmarks and reading-log sheets)
Complete instruction PDFs for EVERYTHING.
All design files have jpeg and PDF versions.
The iron-on design can double as a coloring sheet! My son, Cooper, totally gave me that idea when he saw his bookbag and was like, "Mom, can I color it?" ...Cue lightbulb moment... "It totally looks like a coloring book design!" So you can print the iron-on design onto regular paper. Cooper had a ball coloring BOTH his bag and coloring sheet. NOTE: You will have to flip the image in Photoshop because for the iron-on design, it is set up as a mirror-image since the iron-on "prints" in reverse onto the bag. So you will just flip the image before you print. (In Photoshop, go Image>Rotate Canvas>Flip Canvas Horizontal.)
To personalize the banner, you can typeset the name in Photoshop before you print the iron-ons out (as I did on this bag), you could hand-embroider it, or you can just hand-write it on the bag with a fabric marker. For tips on how to add text on a curve in Photoshop to fit the curve of the banner, check back here for a tutorial very soon!
There are 3 iron-on designs: one large design (see center tote-bag below) with blank banner and "Bookbag" underneath it, then the same design without the "Bookbag" if you want to keep the bag generic, then the deer and mushrooms image in 2 different color palettes (and a choice of a star or heart in the image so you can tailor your gift to a boy or girl). The deer/mushroom designs are smaller and will fit the smaller sized totes. I bought these totes at Hobby Lobby, but you can find a variety of totes at any craft store. Check back here for more ideas using these iron-ons including onesies and puffy pins! (and more!)
Bookplates:
Print them onto full-sheet adhesive labels (I use the full-sheet glossy ink-jet label paper from OnlineLabels.com) or just print onto normal printing paper and adhere to the book. I added Cooper's name in Photoshop, but you could also handwrite the names after you've printed them out... that is always a personal touch! Or you could always leave them blank if you are printing up alot of these for party-favors, for example, and let the giftee sign their own name.
Bookmarks:
Bookmarks can also be personalized before (in Photoshop) or after you print them with handwriting. I had mine laminated to make them durable. If you have them printed at a printer (instead of at home), the paper will be a bit thicker than regular printer paper, so you might get away with not laminating them if you do that. OR if you print at home, you could always print them onto cardstock which would be thick as well and wouldn’t need to be laminated. NOTE: the bookmark, bookplate and BONUS gift-bag topper files are all set up as 8x10's if you'd like to print at an off-site printer to save ink.
I rounded the corners of the printed bookmarks with my corner rounded, and also rounded the corners again after I had them laminated.
Reading log and coloring sheet:
I loved the idea of having a printable reading-log for kids to log the date, book title, author's name and minutes when they are reading their books. :-) It's set up as an 8.5x11 so you can easily print at home on normal printing paper. Your child can write their name in at the top where the blank banner is.
As you can see in the photos, I've also included *BONUS* gift bag toppers in this kit to give your gift-set that extra touch (for the bookmarks, bookplates and reading-log sheets). It's important to remind you that I've included in-depth instructions on how to put together EVERYTHING in this kit. These are included in your downloaded file.
You can use any clear gift baggies to package your bookmarks, bookplates and reading-log sheets in. You can also purchase cello sleeves at ClearBags.com or use ZipLoc bags. (for the bookmarks I used clear gift bags you can find at a party supply store and for the bookplates I used 4-1/4"x5-1/8" bags from ClearBags.com.) For the 8.5x11 reading-log sheets, I used clear binder sleeves. You could also do this with the coloring sheets.
***And for the Giveaway!*** (don't you love giveaways? i honestly think the blogger loves them more than the bloggee. ;-) If you look in the photo above with the 3 tote-bags: the 2 small bags really don't have iron-ons on them thanks to the magic of Photoshop. ;-) (the large one in the middle does have an actual iron-on).. I kept the 2 smaller ones blank because for this giveaway, I'm going to personalize ONE of those and create an entire personalized kit for the person's name that I draw! You will get the full set of bookmarks, bookplates, reading log, bag, etc.
So all you have to do is:
Leave a comment stating whether you'd need a gift set for a GIRL or a BOY. The red and off-white canvas tote with the blue/red design will go to a boy, or, if I chose someone that wants a girl set, I'll personalize the off-white tote with the wooden handles and pink design. So there will be just one winner. If you can state "boy" or "girl" in your comment and also if you can recommend AND link to any cool holiday crafts that you know of! That would be great! OR if you don't know of any, you can link me to some good music. I'm in need of some new music.
Sound good? I will draw a winner's name on Friday.
What I love about this kit is that it works for a girl OR a boy. (besides the pink iron-on of course. ;-) But the rest is totally unisex.
Stayed tuned for some more AWESOME projects from Kitschy Digitals members using this kit... and using it in other ways that the kit wasn't intended for. I *WILL* be creating a kit with these same Woodland Elements and new papers for scrapbookers/artists in the near future. So look out for that. I'll also be creating an add-on kit to this book-lover's kit with artwork to create large and small Woodland Character Softies and Stuffed Ornaments! :-) That will come out very soon! I think these softies would be such a cute addition to this gift-set. You can just stick it in the book-bag.
More soon!
I wanted to mention that I won't be able to create the photobook templates after all. :( I didn't plan ahead on that and by the time I'd finish them, you wouldn't be able to use them for holiday photobook gifts. BUT i do still plan on making them.. they would be generic, so you could use them on any occasion.
These are SO stinkin cute! I'd love a GIRL set! :)
